He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Smaage and Gwendolyn Smaage (Holmes) of Storm Lake; his wife Donna Smaage (Cohoon) of Chippewa Falls, WI.; his son Timothy Leon Smaage; and his brother Denis Smaage.

He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Gambill (Don), Kevin Smaage (Dianne), Linda Moffitt (Kyle) and Darin Smaage. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
