He was predeceased by: his parents, Mariah Pinckney Murray and Johnny Murray, Sr.; his sisters, Rebecca Powell and Eloise Governor; his wife Essie Mae Murray; and his children, Jimmie Lee Vickers-Williams and Richard Matthews, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Pastor Edna Mae McCoy, Ann Garvin (Geno) of Palatka, FL, Shirley Vickers of Palatka, FL and Mandy Smith (Malcom) of Palatka, FL. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Alice Samuel of Charleston, SC, Nancy Murray of New York, NY, Fellestine Meadows of Bronx, NY and Hattie Swinton of Charleston, SC; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
