He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Eugene and Phyllis Lea Grove Murphy; his grandparents, Woodrow, Mary Grove and Margaret Murphy; and his brother Jonathan "Johnny" Paul Murphy.
He is survived by: his wife Susan (Hilker); his children, Christina Murphy of Martinsburg, Richard Murphy Jr. of Martinsburg, Dawn Murphy of Paisley, Justin Murphy of Paisley and Angel Murphy of Deland; his siblings, Debbie Housden of Martinsburg and Woodrow "Pete" Wilson Murphy of Martinsburg; and his grandchildren, Trenton Tigney, Sydney Murphy, Chelsea Murphy, Rylan Porter and Aiden Murphy.
