He was predeceased by: his parents, Maude Knight Bishop and Rufus Byron Bishop; his son Rodney Lynn Bishop; and his siblings, C. W. Bishop, Wilma Pollar, Erma Elrod, Lillian Roberson, Nina Glover and Verlon Corbin.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Barfield Bishop; his children, Darian (Tonya), Sean (Rachelle), Marc Bishop (Brenda) and Kimberly Bishop; and his sister Edith Bishop Strickland. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand and great grandchildren, and some really cool grand pups.
