Florence Freeman Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Florence Freeman in Orlando, Florida, who passed away on February 5, 2025 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnie Ricks and Mary Elizebth Whitefield; her husband James Freeman; her children, James Thomas Ricks and Sylvia Freeman-Stewart; her granddaughter Latoya Ricks; and her brothers, Johnny Jr. Ricks, Edward Ricks (Puttin) and Willie L. Ricks.
She is survived by: her children, Mildred Ricks-Green and Melvin Ricks (Sherley); her grandchildren, Latisha Broadus-Friday (Solomon) of Orlando, FL, Letitia Broadus of Bridgeport, CT, Ronald Ricks of Waterbury, CT, James Ricks of Clover, SC, Jennifer Ricks of Norfolk, VA and Holland Stewart of Waterbury, CT; and her siblings, William T. Ricks (Buck) of Portsmith, VA, Lorenza (Low), Gloria Jean Evans (Wilson) of Capron, VA and Margaret M. Ricks of Norfolk, VA. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the East End Baptist Tabernacle Church (548 Central Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06607). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
