He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph James and Ursulina King; his son Joseph L. James; and his brother Isaac E. James. He is survived by: his wife Wilhelmina James; his sons, Ronald James of Orlando, FL and Lennard James of Orange Park, FL; his daughter-in-law Cynthia James of Jacksonville, FL; his sister-in-law Lula Pearl Pearson of Columbus, OH; his grandchildren, Cherie (Jason), Taiesha of Longville, TX, Jamel of Wesley, MD, Chaunece, Rosa, Jenese of Jacksonville, FL and Davante; and his godchildren, Carmen Jenkins, Kia Riddle, Darryl Bryant and Travis Francis. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Greater Zion Grove Baptist Church (6317 118th St, Jacksonville, FL 32244). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
