Floyd Edward McPherson Obituary
Died July 6, 2024 in Orange Park, Florida after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's disease. – Floyd E. McPherson was born in Elgin, Illinois and was the son of Glenn and M. Bernice McPherson. He grew up in Pingree Grove, Hampshire and Woodstock, Illinois. Floyd was a kind and gentle man that enjoyed his family, traveling, bowling, CB radios, camping, and just being outside doing yard work. He cherished his annual fishing trips with his "fishing buddies" who became lifelong friends. Whether it was cooking on the grill or simply admiring a beautiful sunset he loved the outdoors. In 1978 Floyd married the love of his life Barb and together they built an amazing life together, doing their best to raise four children, care for others, build their businesses, enjoy life, and each other.
Floyd owned Irish Transport from 1975 to 1977, then owned National Stamping, Inc. and Eastwood Manufacturing Co., both located in Crystal Lake/Woodstock from 1981 until 2018.
He joined the Woodstock Moose Lodge in 1982 and dedicated 42 years of selfless service to others by serving in numerous offices at the Lodge, State and International level. He was blessed and proud to receive the highest honor in The Moose, the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, in 1994.
Floyd and Barb relocated to Orange Park, Florida in November of 2021 to enjoy the rest of their fairy tale life and warm weather in a carefree environment. Floyd will be remembered for every word that describes him – father, husband, grandpa, friend, leader, mentor, advisor, mediator, generous, affectionate, honest, and the latest, brave as he ferociously battled his disease.
Floyd is survived by his very best friend and true soul mate Barbara (Swan-Buck); four children Wanda Berlin of Belvidere, IL; Peggy (Tim) Yarbro of Wonder Lake, IL; Roger (Tracie) McPherson of California, MD and Alan Buck (Jessica Borst) of Streator, IL in addition to grandchildren Shaun and Scott (Kim) Berlin; Laura Powell; Steven (Caroline) McPherson; Lacey (Ian) Evans; AJ Cheney; Samantha (Steve) Maack; Kyle Buck and Mason Guerrero; and 8 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; his sister Sandra (Bill) Burri and too many friends to count. He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Bernice McPherson, brothers Earl (in infancy) and Curt, his nephew Jason, and niece Christina McPherson.
Sincerest thanks go to the amazing and caring staff at Moosehaven who provided excellent care to Floyd when the need arose. They are true guardian angels.
