He is survived by: his daughter Alexis; his grandson Joseph; his wife Heather; his son Joseph; his granddaughter Azalea Rose; his mother Sandy Dale; his siblings, Theresa Hall, Melissa Ellixson and Tim Ellixson; and his nieces and nephews, Kristen Ellixson, Mia Hall, Chris Hall, Mya McCrory, Tre Hall and William Macgregor.

Joe and Heather are members of the Journey and prior to the pandemic, he would serve faithfully in Journey Kids as a large group coach.
