He was predeceased by: his pets, Koby and Kirby. He is survived by: his wife Joy Bowling Thompson of Manchester; his brother Lonnie Gene Thompson (Gail) of Manchester, KY.; his children, Darlene'Sis'Thompson Abner (Terry Lynn) of Manchester, KY, Ronnie Thompson, Jr. of Okeechobee, FL and Donnie Irvin Thompson (Marilyn) of Lexington, KY.; his grandchildren, Donnie Ryan (Brittany), Joshua Lynn (Teresa), Tristen Gage, Camyle Grace, Cadance Glorie, Jadon Gabrielle and Blake Aaron; and his great grandchildren, Weston Ryan, Wyatt Cooper and Matthew Lucas. He is also survived by many sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
