He was predeceased by: his wife Geneva; his parents, Perry Mitchell and Cecil Mitchell; and his sisters, Faye Smith, Dorothy Bush, Lucy Parsons and Marie Wells.
He is survived by: his partner Jean Walters; his children, John Mitchell (Sara) and Lisa Deaton (Curt); his grandchildren, Angela Roush (Jim), Amanda Mitchell, Jamie Mitchell, Brandon Deaton (Katie) and Jillian Deaton; and his siblings, Jesse Mitchell (Doris), Perry Mitchell Jr. (Marsha), Addie Kirkpatrick, Betty Jo Dick and Sue Milby (Ronnie). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
