She was predeceased by: her husband James Hester; her parents, Henry Morgan Hansel and Mary Driggers; her siblings, Earl Hansel and Betty Harper; her daughter Nelda Cason; and her granddaughter Kimberly Pena.

She is survived by: her son Sonny Cason; and her sisters, Edna Crostic and Ann Lindesmith. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
