He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Jr and Rosella Fernung, Jr. (Frazee); his brothers, Robert Fernung and Lester Fernung; his niece Hannah Fernung; and his nephew Douglas Fernung.
He is survived by: his children, Tammera Whetsel (Greg) of Summitville and Jack Fernung (Amber) of Elwood; his siblings, Arlene Etchison (Don) of Greentown, David Fernung (Linda) of Kokomo, Margaret Wardwell (Ken) of New Albany and Michael Fernung of Anderson; his grandchildren, Johnathon Konkle (Leslie), Zachary Konkle, Danylle Petty (Thomas), Samantha Fernung (Sean Johnson) and Keylee Fernung; his great grandchildren, Heaven, Makayla, Cora, Owen and Emma; his sisters-in-law, Marlene Fernung of Elwood and Kathy Fernung of Elwood; and his former spouse Jody Fernung of Anderson. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and 18 nieces and nephews.
