He was predeceased by: his sisters, Joan Fritzgibbons and Barbara Huntzinger; and his son William Michael Beckes. He is survived by: his wife Miriam V. Backes; his children, Laura J. Backes (Christine); his siblings, Kenneth Backes (Bonnie) and Elizabeth Venditti (Mario); his grandchildren, Katie and Keith; and his great grandchild Flint.
