She was predeceased by: her husband James Blackburn; her parents, Mae Cunningham and Sloan Cunningham; and her siblings, Norwood, Ralph, Charles and Evelyn.

She is survived by: her daughters, Marcia Straub and Lyn Deckman; her son-in-law George; her granddaughter Abbey; and her nieces and nephews, Saundra, Chele, Chaun, Joe and Pat.

In lieu of flowers the family requests remembrances to either Community Hospice and Palliative Care of NE Florida, Samaritan's Purse or First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.

“We were saddened to learn of Mary Ellen’s departure, but what a wonderful reunion she must have had with loved ones and friends who predeceased her! We know that her greatest reward was seeing Jesus face to face as He welcomed her home. Mary Ellen and Jim were the best neighbors one could have. Our 3 children benefited greatly from swimming lessons given them by Lyn. Our sincere condolences to Marcia, Lyn, and their families.”
