Lucy Anna (Brown) Morris, age 81, passed away March 31, 2022
Lucy Anna (Brown) Morris was born May 20, 1940 in Cobleskill, NY to Everett F.
Brown and Rosella (Bailey) Brown. After graduating from High School, as an Art Major, in
1958, Lucy went to college for two years, 1958-1960, majoring in Art, in Buffalo, New York.
In 1960, on August 2 nd , Lucy married Byron Junior (BJ) Morris (Deceased, 12/1/2020) in
a garden in Kailua Oahu, Hawaii by torchlight.
Lucy and her husband BJ moved to New York. Lucy and BJ were the parents of 4
children. Lucy was a full-time mother along with working part time jobs. Lucy also enjoyed
attending to the family vegetable gardens, canning, freezing the vegetables, and making fresh
maple syrup during the sap season.
Lucy and BJ then moved to Florida and finished raising their children. Lucy’s love for
her children was a beautiful light. Lucy also worked as a private, in home, CNA during that time.
After the children were grown, Lucy and BJ moved to North Carolina for a while. During that
time, Lucy went back to college and in May of 1996, she received her Child Care Credential.
Lucy, then started employment in childcare. Lucy and BJ also built a log cabin by hand, with the
help of their youngest son, Shawn Morris. Lucy and BJ lived happily in the cabin for several
years.
Lucy and BJ then moved back to Florida, where Lucy was very active within the Seventh
Day Adventist Church. Lucy helped with the children and holiday programs within the church.
Lucy continued to work in child daycare for several years. Lucy also took care of her husband,
BJ during his battle with cancer and during BJ’s remission and all the side effects, for several
years. Lucy’s love for her husband was undeniable.
Lucy and BJ retired to Dunnellon, Florida. Lucy resided there until her death. Lucy is
survived by her children Roy Morris, his spouse, Priscilla Morris, Gwen Ann Jolley (Morris), her
spouse, Gordon Jolley, Wendy Sue Hansen (Morris), Shawn Byron Morris, eight grandchildren,
Jedediah Morris, his spouse, Jessica Morris, Daniel Morris, his spouse, Jordan Morris and David
Morris, Rachel (Jolley) Brandon, her spouse, Rick Brandon, Andrew Hansen, his spouse,
Gabrielle Hansen, Jonathan, Jessica, and Shawn Douglas Morris, and four great-grandchildren,
Mason Gray Brandon, Bailey Mai-Yan Morris, Abel Hansen, and Jeffrey Morris and two
siblings, Everett Brown, his spouse, Lee Brown, and Mary McGowan, her spouse, Ed McGowan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and a brother.
Besides Lucy being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and
sister, Lucy was a devoted Christian and Lucy prayed for many souls throughout her lifetime.
Also, Lucy’s love and amazing talent of art showed through in every sketch, drawing, craft, and
arrangement she created. Lucy created arts and crafts right up to her passing. Lucy’s love of
children was also evident in all her years of service in childcare and the many charitable
contributions that she and her husband, BJ, made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Lucy will be missed
dearly. For her children, she was the ‘center’ of our family core. She will be kept in our hearts
until we all meet again with Jesus in Heaven. AMEN.
