He was predeceased by : his parents, Margaret McCoy Hayes and Henry James Hayes. He is survived by : his wife Vernetta Hayes of Ocala, FL; his children, Jessie Hayes, Jr. (Chinita) of Calhoun, GA, Devin Hayes (Sara) of Calhoun, GA, Phillip Taylor (Tracy) of Newnan, GA, Jerado Taylor of McDonough, GA, Keisha Hayes of Boston, MA, Vernessa Brewton and Vickie Brewton of Ocala, FL; and his grandchild Darriell Jest. He is also survived by sisters, Helen (Lindell) Welcome of Ocklawaha, FL, and Linda Holland of Warner Robins, GA; twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 14th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Snow's Funeral Ministry (5791 SE 23rd Ln, Ocala, FL 34480). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, June 15th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Ramah Missionary Baptist Church (10545 SE 58th Ave, Belleview, FL 34420).
