He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Shields and Betty Ferree; and his brother-in-law Michael Porter. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Gail Shields (Porter); and his children, Andrew Pawley (Kim), James M. Shields Jr. (Elizabeth), Kimberly Shields, John L. Shields Michael (Sarah Dillman) and Katelyn Shields.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 9th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Ocala Downtown Chapel (606 SW 2nd Ave, Ocala, FL 34471). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 9th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
