He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Estelle; his children, Herbert Mathis of Goose Creek, Joseph Mathis (Wendy) of Boscawen, Johnny Mathis (Mary) of Oak Hill, Patricia Walker (Ronald) of Oak Hill and Mary Roach (Larry) of Winter Garden; and his siblings, Jack, Junior Mathis (Marie) and Norma Lea Queen. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.
