She was predeceased by : her husband Salvatore Privitera; and her children, Diane Privitera, Mark Privitera and Cynthia Privitera-Bacewicz. She is survived by : her granddaughters, Teresa Willbanks and Alicia Bacewicz; her nephew Robert Goren; her caregivers, Aline Demeusy and Gaeann Cormier (Ray); and her godson Daniel Stevens. She is also survived by many special friends and neighbors.

The lying in state will be held on Saturday, June 29th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the San Pedro Catholic Church of North Port, FL (14380 Tamiami Trl, North Port, FL 34287). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 29th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the San Pedro Catholic Church North Port (14380 Tamiami Trl, North Port, FL 34287). During the shadows of the pandemic, Dorothea's artistry was once again on display, with a triumphant art showing at the North Port Center for Arts.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leukemia Society.
