He was predeceased by: his parents, Betty Metz and George Metz. He is survived by: his wife Sandra; and his siblings, Henry Metz of Wells, ME, Donald Metz of Southbury, CT and Lily White of Lexington, SC. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Hope Hospice (Cape Coral, FL), the Wounded Warriors or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in loving memory of J. Raymond Metz.
