He is survived by: his wife Frances; his children, Laurie Sechrist (Tom), Andrew Sherman (Teri) and Amy Sherman; and his stepdaughter Kristen Roblee (Dan). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Walt's name to Tidewell Hospice House in Venice.
