He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Poppop; his wife Cristina; his grandson Daniel L. Burkett III; his brothers, Jack and Joe Nelson; his children, Elizabeth Burkett (Daniel), William F. Nelson III (Sherri) and Rose Kasper (Alan); his grandchildren, Amie Johnson (Trevor), Cara Smith (Trevor), Leslie Samardzija (Ned) and Jacquelyn Burkett; and his great grandchildren, Fitzgerald, Elle, Carter, Isla, Camden and Cade.
