He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Rivers and Julia Rivers; his sisters, Jeanne Scharnitzky and Louise Holman; and his grandson Spencer Rivers Ratcliff.
He is survived by: his wife Betty McNeely; his daughter Wynn Herndon; his sons-in-law, Tim and Steve; and his grandchildren, Stephanie Ratcliff Johnson (Wesley), Matthew Herndon (Tanya), Jenny Herndon and Leigh Anna Herndon. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
