He was predeceased by: his parents, Will Chavis and Fannie Chavis; his wife Delores Chavis; his son Eddis Miller; his granddaughter Leah Miller; and his siblings, Dewey Chavis, Donald Chavis and Ada Fitzgerald.
He is survived by: his children, Jimmy Miller (Kim) of Donalsonville, Georgia, Lisa Ramstad (Ritchie) of Eagle River and James Chavis of Niceville, Florida. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
