He was predeceased by: his parents, Alida Gordon and Ellsworth Gordon Gilbar; his son Kenneth Gilbar; his sisters, Elizabeth Jacobs and Shirley Carter; and his son-in-law Craig Reese.
He is survived by: his sons, Kenny and Dan; his wife Jean Gilbar; his children, Donald Gilbar, Jr. (Stacy), Michael Gilbar (Ileen), Donna Reese, Robert Gilbar (Dorothy), Tracy Hulbert (Daniel) and Thomas Gilbar (Annie); his stepdaughter Sheila Cavanaugh (Shannon); and his siblings, Bruce Gilbar (Evelyn), Cedric Gilbar (Beverly) and Carolyn Farrer.
In honor of his memory, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Gadsden County Humane Society.
