He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Akins and Florence Akins; and his siblings, Rose Kerr, Louise Bower, David Akins, Al Akins, Carl Akins, Jr. and Lee Corey.
He is survived by: his wife Kay Akins; his children, Scott Akins (Tina) and Kim Lemus (Bob); his grandchildren, Michael Akins (Tabi), Jaelyn Weiden (Jerry), Jacob Lemus and Ashley Lemus; his stepgrandsons, Jowel Santo Domingo (Ericca), Jeremy Santo Domingo, Jered Cunningham (Megan), Jordan Cunningham and Cameron Webber; his great grandchildren, Henry, Josie of Sincere, JJ, Skylar and Jax; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Cam, Mateja, Chase and Miles; and his brother Lee Akins (Barbara).
Visitation was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Coronado Community United Methodist Church (201 S Peninsula Ave, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169). A funeral service was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Coronado Methodist Church (201 S Peninsula Ave, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169). A burial was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery (5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754).
