It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Ervin Matthews in New Port Richey, Florida, born in Ahoskie, North Carolina, who passed away on August 29, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Matthews and Tinnie Matthews; his daughter Terry Matthews; and his sister Libby Kessinger (Bill). He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his children, Kenneth Matthews (Dawn) of Kannapolis, NC, Kathy Horner, Bob of New Port Richey, FL, Judy Vest and Vic of Spring Hill, FL; and his sisters, Shirley Ryan (Tom Ryan) and Billie Jo Hoggard (Basil Hoggard). He is also survived by four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
