“Alan was among my small circle of diverse best friends in high school at Riverview High School - Sarasota, Florida. We kept in close contact 20 years, then more randomly. He was an aspiring writer, a journalist, a lawyer, and a conservative Catholic. He loved William F. Buckley, James J. Kilpatrick and Jim Morrison. We had great conversations over decades about politics and governing. He listened; I listened. We debated politics and writing. We shared our short story fiction. I’ll miss you”
