Scott Quilici Obituary

Scott Quilici, 69, of Naples, Florida, peacefully entered into Heaven on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Born January 26, 1955, in Englewood, New Jersey to Jane (Kritch) Quilici and Alfred Quilici of Demarest, New Jersey, Scott is survived by his mother, Jane Quilici; sisters, Donna Quilici-Smith, Randi Quilici, Karen Roth, Joan Quilici-Mendelson; brother, Daniel Quilici; two nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Quilici, and his brother, David Quilici.

Scott grew up in Demarest, New Jersey, in a home full of family, friends, and a constant stream of company. Having graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, the people he met never forgot him. He seems to have left them with memories of funny and outrageous stories to recall fifty years later.

Scott enjoyed the company of his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Because he always remained a kid at heart, Scott’s judgment was often questionable, but his heart was in the right place. He once sent a large box of fireworks from South Carolina to his niece and nephews through the US mail.

His life changed forever in June of 1994 when he suffered a motorcycle accident causing multiple trauma to his body including paralysis in his legs. The damage ultimately caused Scott’s death. Soon after this trauma, his mother often said that she “over prayed,” and Scott embraced his Catholic faith with fervor. Nothing has been more important to him than his “Lord.” Never complaining about his chronic and debilitating pain, Scott appreciated what he did have and was so generous that he literally gave all of his money away to others.

Scott’s joy and passion was taking care of his “pets”: the birds, fish, turtles, and alligators that would come swimming up to his deck each time they heard his wheelchair or whistle. He fed them better than he fed himself.

People who knew and loved Scott experienced the real meaning of patience, perseverance, and faith. Without his leg braces and wheelchair, Scott will have joyfully spent East Sunday in Heaven with his family, friends, and his Lord and Savior.

A private celebration of his life will take place with his family. Scott’s wish would be that people share his enthusiasm for giving by remembering those in need.
