Robert John "Bob" Schaffer, aged 83, passed away on January 10, 2024, in Naples, Florida related to Alzheimer's Disease.
Born on December 2, 1940, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to Marie and John Schaffer, Bob had three younger siblings: James, Janet and Marilyn. Bob graduated from Norton High School and served in the Navy from 1958 to 1961. He then enrolled at Kent State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He married Mary Sigmund in 1967 and they moved to Indianapolis where he worked at Eli Lilly Company and attended Indiana University, graduating cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree. He and Mary had two daughters, Theresa and Jennifer. His commitment to excellence in his studies set a strong foundation for his future.
After graduating, Bob moved to Miami, Florida and embarked on a distinguished legal career. He started as a law clerk to the Honorable Joe Eaton, Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, from 1971 to 1974. He then transitioned into private practice, specializing in Civil Practice, Trial Practice, Appellate Practice, Commercial Litigation, Collections, and Corporate Law. His expertise and ethical approach to the law earned him the respect and trust of his colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of his professional life, Bob was passionate about golfing, restoring cars, music and sailing. These hobbies provided him not only with immense personal joy but also with opportunities to connect with others who shared his interests.
Bob's legacy is marked by his dedication to his profession, his service to his country, and his devotion to his hobbies.
