It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Dennis McVey of Myakka City, Florida, born in Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on May 8, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father John G. McVey; his wife Karen; and his siblings, Vic McVey, Phil McVey and Sue Smoak.

He is survived by: his son Corey McVey (Michelle); his grandchildren, Bailen McVey, Blaine McVey, Tyler Parkinson and Shylah Parkinson; and his siblings, Danny McVey (Kathy), Chris McVey (Karen) and Jackie Moon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Animal Services, 8451 Bee Ridge Rd. Sarasota, FL 34241 since this is where John's puppy, Huckleberry was adopted from.
