He was predeceased by: his parents, William D. Smith, Sr. and Bertha M. Smith. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn C. Smith of Eufaula; his children, Shannon M. Smith of Meridian, MS and Brian D. Smith of Birmingham, AL.; and his siblings, Mark H. Smith, Robin L. Smith and Vicki Jenks. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
