He is survived by: his wife Tammy Mathis; his children, Michael Mathis (Nadeebra) of Dallas, TX, Rachel Mathis and Sheena Wilson (Rodney); his grandchildren, Michal Mathis, Evan McGhee, Jalani Williams, Mackenzie Rae Mathis, Cairo Wilson and Amari Wilson; and his brothers, William G. Mathis (Marion) and Mark Mathis (Diane). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
