Robert Crespo Obituary
Robert Crespo was born in Vermont in 1956, the only son from the marriage of the late Ciro L. Crespo and Mercedes Violeta Carbonnell McGrath. In 1965, after his mother left to start a new life, Robert and his father moved to Miami, Florida. Robert was a graduate of Miami Springs Senior High School and The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, where he majored in Photography. Robert’s broad entrepreneurial career began at a very young age. He was co-owner of two Texaco gas stations with his father in Hialeah, Florida. He also owned a Limousine Service, the Oceans 11 Saltwater Fish Store, RC Paint and Body Shop, Shoreline Design RC Boats, and Robert Crespo Concepts, where he specialized in luxury home design and remodeling. Robert's joyful spirit had the ability to light up every room he entered. He was a true artist who created beauty in all that he touched. In his later years, Robert reconnected with his faith and maintained a strong spiritual life. He was an active member of Elevate Church in Miami Lakes.
Nearly a year before Robert’s untimely passing, he suffered an aneurysm that left him hospitalized for many months. With his loving fiancé by his side and under the care of an exceptional medical team, Robert’s strong will to live brought him very close to a full recovery, until the Lord unexpectedly called him Home. Now left to honor and cherish Robert’s memory is his adoring life partner, Vanessa Ross González, along with her mother, Rose Ross and children Nina and Tony González. Robert's dear Aunt, Mrs. Reina Crespo, cousins Tommy, Melissa and Cynthia Crespo, and his many nieces and nephews. Also deeply saddened by his loss are the countless friends who loved, adored and truly enjoyed Robert’s warm and convivial personality and his wonderful presence in this life. Robert is also survived by three half-sisters, Laurie McGrath Stilson, Christine McGrath White and Kathleen McGrath Barrett, who were denied the great privilege of knowing the extraordinary, compassionate and generous man who was their brother.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving father Ciro, who was affectionately known to all as "Cheech" and greatly loved and respected by Robert and all who knew him. Robert was also preceded in death by his mother. Robert's passing has left a deep and painful void in the hearts of the many people who loved him. May we keep the sweet memory of his laughter forever close to our hearts as we recall the two words said so often to his loved ones: "Peace-Love." Rest safely in the arms of your Savior, dear Robert; we know we will see you again!
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform an intentional act of kindness and extend a hand to help someone in need, as Robert so often did. Please keep his dear Vanessa in your prayers as she walks this painful journey of grief. Information regarding a private Celebration of Life will be transmitted to Robert's closest family and friends.
