She was predeceased by: her parents, Freda Bell and Pleasant Bell; her former husband Charles Bernard Carter; and her sisters, Iola Bird and Flora.

She is survived by: her daughter Dr. Charletta Carter-McWoodson; and her son-in-law Samuel McWoodson (Miami Heat Golden). She is also survived by step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and her loving caregivers.
