He was predeceased by: his parents, James Pitt and Evelyn Pitt; and his siblings, Bonswell Pitt, Ashton Pitt, Bertie Pitt, Leon Pitt and Marina Watt.
He is survived by: his wife Winnifred M. Pitt; his children, Vernon Pitt (Maureen Waldron), Oliver Pitt and Verna Bailey; and his grandchildren, Vernon Pitt II, Shanda Pitt, Oliver Pitt, Jr., Tiffany Wilson, Kimberly Pitt, Michelle Rote (Zachary) and Jason Bailey (Tasia). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters.
