He was predeceased by: his parents, Preston Erle and Marie Phelps (Wilmot). He is survived by: his wife Mary Elizabeth (Gmitter); his sons, Andrew Phelps (Jonelle) of Portland and Ore (Christopher Phelps); and his siblings, Peter and Paula Phelps. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
