He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey "Wid" Rice and Nova Rice (Stevens); and his daughter Sandra Jo Rice-Fowler. He is survived by: his granddaughter Melissa Mae Hanes (Clint); his great grandchildren, Joseph Baca, Alexis Baca and Hailey Sipe; his daughter Lisa McDowell; his former wife Bonnie Rice; and his stepchildren, Jason Hicks and Holly Trepka (Anthony).
