Wayne Myron Wardwell, passed away at age 75 on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Holmes Regional Medical Center Tuesday with his family by his side. Wayne was born July 5, 1947 in Rutland, VT and is pre-deceased by his parents, Myron (Mike) and Myrle Wardwell, and his brother Pete Wardwell. He is survived by his wife of 50 years and the love of his life, Barbara, his only son and best friend, Michael (Mike) Wardwell, grandson Hunter Wardwell, granddaughter Reagan Wardwell and two sisters and brothers in law, Barbara and Earl Hix and Peggy and Ted Stull.
Wayne joined the United States Army in 1966 and proudly served our country for 3 years. Settling back Vermont after his tour, Wayne met and married the love of his life, Barbara Angolano. In 1976, their adopted son, Mike was born. Later, Mike would join the Army just like his dad. In 1981 he moved his family down to Melbourne, FL. where he has resided since.
Wayne contributed so much to his community starting with working as a bus mechanic for many years with the Brevard Public Schools, making sure the children would have safe buses to pick them up and drop them home.
In 2011, Wayne was able to live out the top item on his bucket list. He went on the Hot Rod Power Tour with his AWD Trailblazer SS and later in 2019 took his last trip down the Orlando Speedworld Drag Strip in his new Camaro and then proudly hung up his hat!
In 2012 Wayne retired from the BPS and continued to give to his community. He enjoyed mowing lawns for folks for free, sharing his stories of experience with building cars with his "garage friends" and hanging out with his friend Frank and his beloved son, Mike, at many garages.
Wayne will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
