He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph E. Dessart and Patricia C. Coniff; and his son Wade Dessart. He is survived by: his girlfriend Kathryn De Vocht; his children, Joseph Dessart, Jessica Dessart and Christina Dessart; his brothers, Dave and Dan Dessart; and his nieces, Dawn, Jenny and Becky. He is also survived by three granddaughters and one grandson.

The family asks that people make donations in support of William Childs Hospice House, in lieu of sending flowers.
