It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ernest M. Briel Jr. of Melbourne, Florida, born in Birmingham, Alabama, who passed away on June 22, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lalla Briel, and Ernest Briel, Sr.; and his wife Patricia Howard Briel. He is survived by: his sons, Robert (Peggy), Kenneth (Cynthia), James (Krista) and Richard (Theresa); and his brother Raymond (Glenda). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
He served as President of the United Way – Florida Section, American Society of Civil Engineers, Clemson University Foundation Board and served on the Board of Directors of several local banking institutions.
