He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Ann Gentles (Roberts); his brother Neil Gentles; his children, Richard Bruce Gentles, David "Bobby" Robert Gentles, Jr. and Veronica Rose Gentles-Price; and his grandchildren, Gwendolen Gentles (Peels), Charise Gentles and James "Jimbo" Gentles.
He is survived by: his son James Gentles of Melbourne; and his siblings, Thelma Duquesnay of Palm Bay, Veta Foote of Toronto, CAN., Patricia Heimstra of Vancouver, CAN. and Keith Gentles of Jamaica. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
