He is survived by: his wife Joyce Kelly Gunter of McDavid, FL; his children, Carl Gunter, Jr. (Wanda) of Brewton, AL, Joel Gunter of McDavid, FL, Kelly Ann Gunter of McDavid, FL and Robin Thomas (Richie) of Brewton, AL; and his sisters, Barbara Ryals (Jack) of Walnut Hill, FL and Peggy Barrow (Darrell) of Century, FL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
