He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wiley and Mary Jane Young; and his sibling Hildredge. He is survived by: his siblings, Inas, Lucille, Columbus, Irene, James and Dorothy; his wife Millie Mae; his children, Karen Renee Helsing (Steve), Thomas Keith Young (Paul), Kimberly Denise Smith (Eric), Rhonda Kay Sisi (Lahhoud), Michael Cobble (Lindy) and Mark Cobble; his grandchildren, Alecs Strayer (Rachel), Ryan Helsing, Connor Helsing, Daniel Helsing, Kyle Helsing, Lauren Helsing, Caroline Smith and Evan Smith; and his great grandchild Gryphon Strayer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
