He was predeceased by: his wife Jeanne Jakes Cowen; his parents, Edith Cowen (Hooper) and Douglas Cowen; and his sister Anne Cowen Beauchamp. He is survived by: his children, Gary Cowen (Julie) of Jasper, Kimberly (Ed Ivy) of Danville and Robert Cowen, Jr. (Cam) of Birmingham, Alabama.; his grandchildren, Amy (Mike Chitwood), Garrison Cowen, Sallie Cowen, Jeb Cowen, Catherine (John Michael Fine), Elizabeth (Tyler Palmquist), Robert Cowen III (Chloe), Jack Ivy and Cade Ivy; and his great grandchild Jack Fine.
