He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara; his son Gregory; and his parents, Irma Hanner and Joseph Hanner. He is survived by: his sister Alice Lamm; his son Jerry (Patty); his daughter-in-law Amy Hanner; his grandchildren, Amy Ullrich, Jennifer Shonce, Derek Hanner, Alicia Reese (David), Colin Hanner, Caitlin Hanner, Katharine Hanner and Olsen Hanner; and his great grandchildren, Kian Shonce and Sebastian Tarr.
