She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Robert Forester and Dorothy Eldridge (Burgess); her husband Earle L. Messere; her brother Paul R. Eldridge (Joetta) of Wenonah; and her children, Carolyn Messere of Naples, Florida, Stephen Messere of Newport and Suzanne Messere of Palo Alto.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made in Barbara's name to one of the following: New England Historical Genealogical Society, the Marco Island chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, or the Rhode Island Historical Society.
