He was predeceased by: his parents, Russel Sawyer and Octavia Sawyer; his sister Miram Bailey; and his siblings-in-law, Merita Fears, Vivian Fears Ford and Alex Fears, Jr..

He is survived by: his significant other Patricia Fears Sawyer; his son Charles William Sawyer, Jr.; his granddaughter Emma Claire Wangle (Jake) of Malone; his siblings, Betty Sawyer of Malone and Tom Sawyer (Derone) of Screven, GA; his brother-in-law Larry Ford (Ann) of Greenwood; and his nieces, Lisa Ford Shiflett (Michael), Donna Ford Rogers (Rhett) of Malone and Allison Ford Stoutamire (Kenneth) of Marianna. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
