He was predeceased by: his parents, Mattie Lyons (Johns) and Sylvester Lyons; and his siblings, Stanley, Floyd, Joe Lyons and Evelyn Soloman.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Lyons; his daughters, Sherlene Johnson of Macclenny and Darlene Higginbotham (Jeff) of Dandridge, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Lauren Craig (Matt), Steven Johnson (Erin) and Casey Higginbotham; and his great grandchildren, Anna Grace, Caleb, Luke Craig, Harper and Bailey Johnson.
