He was predeceased by: his parents, William Woodrow Owens and Thelma Lucille Cobb Owens; his brother Kenny Owens; and his parents-in-law, Frank and Hortense Taylor.

He is survived by: his wife Frances Owens; his brother Donnie Owens (Nancy); his daughter Amy Joyner (Brad); his grandson Owen; and his daughter Laura Williams (Clarke). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
